* Sunday – September 14, 2014 Sophia’s Portico ———- Woman in the Shaman’s Body – From 1-4
As the first archeologists uncovered the grave sites of leaders and healers they assumed that the world of the past was built on the rules of their time and that men ruled the world. As science progressed it was found that many of these bones were female and that the wise ones of the culture may have been of either gender. I will be sharing stories from Barbara Tedlock, an anthropologist and Maya Shaman who wrote the book, The Woman in the Shaman’s Body, and Marija Gimbutas, archeologist and author, who studied the ancient cultures of Old Europe. l also will tell some of my own adventures into the world of the Maya in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras and how it effected my art and life. Join me for a three hour journey exploring the history of women as shaman, and what that means to us as woman of wisdom in the world today.
* October 11-12 Universal Life Expo – Convention Center, Columbus Ohio
October 12 at 2 PM a 1 hour lecture on – Living from The Woman in the Shaman’s Body
* Sunday – October 26, Sophia’s Portico – Creating Sacred Animal Totem Poles
Nearly all indigenous cultures work with animal spirit guides. They often create images of the animal to open the doorway or portal to a deeper relationship with them. In this 5 hour workshop I will be sharing some of the meaning of spirit animals in the ancient Maya culture and leading the group in ways of finding their spirit animals and then creating either a collage or acrylic painting of their spirit animals as a totem pole.
* Thursdays – November 6, 13, 20 and December 4, 11, 13 From 1-4 PM Victory Noll – Creating the Path to Spirit
